    DefaultHappy Canoe Dog (2 pics)

We had Dozer practicing his down-stay in the canoe (on the grass) tonight. He was very happy to be in the canoe. Sorry for the crappy camera quality, they were taken with my blackberry.

A close up of the smile. LOL

Well, he certainly looks happy!! How will he be on the water in a canoe? I've imagined that with our guy, and its a NO, too heavy. But he'd love it. if it was just him and Dad. They would balance the canoe very well.

He does great in the canoe on water. He's very good. He hasn't been out on the water yet this year so we were just giving him a refresher on the rules of conduct in the boat.

Clearly neither Dozer or my husband were following the rules of conduct here. LOL

    Though they're doing better here.

Kai would never be able to sit in a canoe. The minute he sees water he turns into a spazz and does everything in his power to get in that water.

That is great. Love the smile.
I wont let Erns in either. He is more thatn happy to swim along beside or follow. It is fun being able to do that with them.

That is fun, but sometimes it's too far to let them do that the whole time. When we wilderness camp sometimes the time in the canoe can be 10-15km at one stretch. Both our canoes are almost 17' long and were bought when we had Cybil and with the mind set of taking the kids and dog in it with us (we have a lake boat and a river boat). Our old canoe was a short thing there wouldn't have been space for everyone and our gear.
