DefaultWhy does she cry when I pet her/someone wakes her up/odd times?

Lady, my 5-year old Black Lab, recently started crying at odd times; when she was climbing into the car, when I was petting her earlier today, and I guess when people surprise her when she's sleeping. My brother is visiting. Today he walked down the stairs and Lady was asleep at the bottom of the stairwell. She started crying like she was physically hurt. I just don't get it. It just started a couple of days ago. She has always been a happy dog in a house with people who love her. She doesn't seem afraid of anyone. I'm really scratching my head here.

I think a visit to the vet is definitely in order.

Inconclusive. She got an orthopedic exam and nothing seems to be wrong. I thought she might have bruised ribs or some other problem that makes it painful to jump up, but she jumped up to sit with me 5 times during the exam.

Doc said for her to take it easy for a few days and for me to watch her closely. She does seem to be doing much better today. I wonder if it's something psychological?

Glad she's doing better today. It's hard to know if it could be something psychological or more likely something physical that's just getting better on its own.
