For Diesel it's slick floors & stairs. Stairs with slick floors are a nightmare! Stairs I have yet to get him either up or down are the metal fire escape kind.
We have a set of metal stairs outside our building that takes you out the back door to the parking lot. There's only 5 steps, wide & not steep but he will NOT do it! I've tried the no stop approach, running down the back drive without stopping & getting up the stairs, I get yanked when he comes to a complete stop at the sight of them. I've tried sitting on the stairs to show it's okay, coaxing with his favourite treat or toy. The furthest we got was a single paw on the first step up then someone came flying out the door & he totally freaked out. We try every once in awhile, but he gets so terrified I don't push it.
Anything your dogs freak over?
Ace and Frehley hate the vacuum cleaner. Annie has no fear of anything.
Nellie is pretty fearless. Bailey is terrified of thunder storms or really loud noises. He also fears my crazy neighbor who tried to attack me one night when I had Bailey out to pee. Bailey saved me but now all he wants to do is attack the neighbor.
The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated. -- Gandhi
Avery is afraid of boxes... I went grocery shopping and got the cans of soda. when the box was empty I put by the stairs and Avery was playing with his ball knocked them over and the fell. He's now petrified of boxes. And of course the vaccume.

"A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water log stick will do just fine. A dog doesn't care if your rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he'll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?"- John Grogan
rex hates the vacuum cleaner, when my phone or alarm beep (that really makes him nutso) and he 's been sliding around on the wood floors when he runs like a nut.
nothing bothers jake. he's cool as a moose.
Thunder storms, fireworks and opened umbrellas (and yes, he was exposed to all of those as part of puppy training process). And East Indian people in saris. Either that or he's just a racist bugger
He now braves the vacum cleaner and sniffs it when it's turned off, then wags his talk like a hero
Ernie is the same with stairs. Partly due to his hips. If he can see through them like metal ones there is no way I can get him near them. Kass was the same. The vet told me it is a common fear and thinks it is because they can see through them.
He isn't sure about jumping into his pool, yet will jump off the wharf.
Used to be the vaccuum.
Few other things get him jumping.
Party hats. On people.
I bought him one for his birthday picture and he was okay with it on his head, but when the BF jokingly put it on - whoa! The pup completely freaked out.
That's about it so far - he's okay with vacuums and thunderstorms and he managed the basement stairs at my parents place after a few days.
Tank has a little fear of: men, and revalving doors. Bentley: Nothing really except his leash scare for awhile.
