Default"She's Black mixed with Chocolate, right?"

I was walking Willow through my neighborhood yesterday, when a guy that was working at my neighbor's house stopped us. He said what a beautiful dog she was and that he had a lab once. Then he proceeded to say "you don't see too many like this - black mixed with chocolate." I was a bit confused, so I asked him what he meant... he actually thought that she had some black hair and some chocolate hair. As in, her Mom was chocolate and dad was black.

I explained that no, her parents and grandparents and great-grandparents are all chocolate.

I don't think he believed me, so I just told him that she's dark chocolate and we went on our way.

Me, too. Another one of mine is how people think Labs are supposed to be 90+ pounds, especially if they're "English".

That's the other thing.... Willow is only about 63 lb, so she has been called a "mini lab" by a few people. Compared to Kendall (80 lb) and Sophie (75 lb), I guess she is!

I get that about Caleb all the time. Especially from all the "upp yuppies" near where I work. You know, the ones who tell me about their "English" Lab who weighs 100 pounds. I just very politely say, "Well, Caleb is just right in the middle of the height listed in the standard, and just a smidge over the minimum weight for a male." (he's 23 /12 inches tall and 68 pounds) That usually ends their superior attitude.
