    DefaultSunrise of a New Season

Last three times we went to our wetlands to do some pre-season work, we saw a lot more ducks than this morning. However, we ended up with five including the first two ever for little "Emma" a friends diminuitive yellar female. Very sweet girl with a ton of go and prey drive, she's going to be a good one.

Emma on the way out to her first ...

She's got it and on her way back ...

Cappy and me outside Carol's blind. Carol was under the weather and this was the first opener she's missed in 15 years.

Back home with the four yellar dawgs: (L to R) Ria, Emma, Remi and Cappy. Remi stayed home with Carol this morning. Here she was using her feminine charms to make me promise her a hunt tomorrow morning ... By the way ... couldn't be happier with the Jeep's perfomance with the new mudders on ... went through some really ugly areas without so much as a wiggle.

Emma and big sister Ria posing ...

After a wash down and lunch, the three tired dawgs that hunted this morning decided to take a snooze together ...

    End of report.

Great pics! How did Cappy do this morning, Jim?

Hope Carol is feeling much better by now.

Thanks for asking, Jackie ... Cappy did just fine. We waited for one that was dropped fairly close by (40 yards) and in water he could run through without difficulty. He wasn't at all winded when he came back with his only retrieve for the morning, but I nonetheless had the other 4 birds retrieved by Ria and Emma.

Cappy will have more opportunities and I'll let him decide when it's time to just be an observer. His heart is definitely still in it ... he constantly watches the sky for working ducks and still shivers with excitement when they respond to our decoys and calling.

This is Emma's first time to go hunting. She is just over 3 y/o and never had a chance to go with her previous owner. I hope Emma we get many more chances to learn how to be a true hunting dog. I have a feeling she'll get the hang of it before long.

Ria's favorite part about visiting Uncle Jim and Aunt Carol is the treats. Yum Yum.
