    DefaultDewclaw trubbles for Wesley

This goes back about a month and I feel like a total sh!t for letting it go, but I was sorta counting on it healing by itself.

Wes was leaning back in a sit for a good neck-scratch w/his paw. And got his dew caught in his collar. Eileen came running when he was SCREAMING about it.

She got him untangled. No blood. Claw looked okay.

Now? It's a mess. It's 'away' from his paw some, and underneath has turned angry looking, w/what appears to be a white (pus filled?) mass under the nail itself.

He is MAJORLY grouchy about it, too, not letting me get in there and even look, much less touch.

We're off to the vet today. Sigh. I hope we can keep this all low-level and manage an easy fix. If he goes from majorly grouchy to out-and-out pissed, they're going to want to muzz him. And then the stress ratchets way up, something I want to avoid like the plague, given his heart issues.....

Sending good thoughts for Wesley!! Hopefully the vet can get it under control without upsetting him or causing him any more pain. Maybe a light sedative would help him relax and let them get a good look at what is going on. Poor baby and poor you too. It is horrible when our dogs are hurt and in pain. Let us know what the vet says. Hang in there.

Prayers for Wesley. Maybe the doc will numb it before he treats it.

Good thoughts for Wes, hopefully some antibiotics and maybe warm compresses will help him out.

Awww, don't beat yourself up over it.

When Tucker ripped a nail off, I took him in and the vet gave him a shot of something that put him out immeditely. He clipped what was left of the nail,
then gave him another shot 2 minutes later that woke him right up. Maybe your vet has something like that?
