It never seemed to bother him on our weekend visits to the country house but now in permanent residence he is really upset and hates to walk on the wood floors. Last night he would not even come out of the carpeted bedroom for his dinner until I placed a scrap strip of carpet down the hall as a runner. Freckles is not fazed at all.
Today I will bring down some additional carpet pieces from the attic and place around the floor so Duke will be more comfortable.
I may just have to install wall to wall carpeting down the the hall and in the living room leaving the laminated wood in the kitchen because I can't stand to see my boy so stressed out. He seems miserable.
The good news is that both boys are really enjoying being outside. We take a walk down the road every afternoon and they run themselves silly.
The country saga continues.
Oh, one more note. I think we are now officially country folks as the highlight yesterday was a trip in to the "big" city (Palestine) to go to the Walmart.
Duke and Freckles at their country home
I wonder if he is afraid he might slip. Are his nails short enough? Is the hair between his pads long? Just a thought.

I have one that is the same way, she will jump from rug to rug to get around. She is fine on ceramic tile but the laminate floors are a different story. The funny thing is when she doesn't think about she is fine and can walk on it just like carpet. I think it would help if her nails were shorter.

Poor Duke. I had a similar problem with the floors. I bought a bunch of rubber backed mats and placed them in areas where Bucky tended to slip. One at the patio door, where he enters and exits. One infront of his food dish. At the bottom of the stairs. And there is a large area carpet in the livingroom. Its helped alot. Hope he adjusts for you.
Mine were like that too at first, but they got used to it. I hope Duke adjusts.
This makes me think of the hyberbole thread from yesterday...booties!
Fanny is like that on my ceramic floors. I think they look like ice to her, she will not move sometimes, she stands there crying! I have a boat load of throw rugs on the floors so her highness is happy.
