On Saturday, my husband gave our lab, Jake, a bath outside (it's 70 degrees here in Houston, Texas). Jake just hates a bath, but tolerated it anyway and ran crazy in the backyard drying himself off. That night he commenced to vigorously licking and biting at his hind quarters (i.e, his butt) and next morning wouldn't lift his tail at all! Since then, he walks around with his tail between his legs. Are his anal glands full? Is his tail injured? Is it "cold tail"? Can anyone help me?
i would take him to a vet!have you ever watched the show sniaml cops houston you can take him there and have their vets check him out they are really good at what they do.It doesnt sound like a broken tail.Does he run lose in the house at night?

Sure sounds like cold tail to me..good luck!
It sounds like cold tail. My girls have all had it. With rest, it should be better in a few days. If not, then have your vet check him out.
Definitely sounds like "cold tail" to me as well! Give it a couple of days & Jake will be right a rain.
I did a similar thing last year (I'm in PA) and the next day, Lexi would not lift her tail, wag it, etc. She looked positively pitiful.
My pretty girl, Lexi!
Thanks so much; I feel better already. Can't wait to get home and see how he's doing. So pitiful . . . such sad eyes. Maybe a little extra treat for my guy tonight. Thanks again! I never heard of cold tail until I started researching this afternoon and found this website!!
