    DefaultGraduation

Last night was Dozer's graduation from Advanced Obedience. He has successfully completed two sessions of training. Woohoo! He did awesome! The only thing he doesn't do is "come slow" ... c'est la vie, he'll figure it out.

Oh and he was SO excited last night. His brains shut off for a bit and he was jumping on people (What-the-heck?!?). I said to the trainer's assistant (who has become my friend ) "You'll never believe I'd like to train him to be a therapy dog" (because he was such a spaz) and she said she thinks he'll make a good therapy dog some day. Other people can see his potential too! YAY! Both the trainer and assistant think I'm a good trainer (persistent and loaded with patience) and think Dozer is a good dog.

Come slow is when you do a recall and tell them "slow" so rather than charging at you full blast they come in a nice orderly manner. It is a command the trainer uses in other things as well later on. Right now I'm not worried about him coming slow. I just want a good recall.

Interesting... how does she teach that?

(I want to teach Baloo to do a walked recall, but haven't started yet as I'm not sure how to go about it.)
