Warning: slightly graphic photo
The surgery on Thursday went well. When I picked him up poor guy was so out of it. Completely confused and groggy, which is to be expected. That evening at home he was having a hard time, crying a lot. But I found that when I was lying down next to him stroking him, the crying stopped. So we did that until almost 1 am. He slept like a log from 1am to 7am and then woke me up, tail wagging and all He's such a little trooper. He's on meds for pain and anti-inflammatory. He's doing quite well though. Today the redness went away and the swelling went down, it looks so much better than it did on Thursday. Doesn't seem to bother him much. Yesterday evening he wanted to play constantly, which we did for a bit, but I'm trying to keep him calm, not jumping, no running etc. But he's a lab. He's got energy to burn.
Here's a pic taken today - you can see the big incision where they had to cut out the MCT and the shaved front legs for IV. The incision is so big but the lump was only about half the size of a pencil eraser.
And here he is sleeping..
Sending good thoughts for a quick recovery.
