    DefaultPoor Jazzy :(

Jazzy was limping some last night. Gave her some Deramaxx and we went to bed. She was diagnosed with hip dysplaysia last year and has limping from time to time. This morning when we got up she could barely walk. She would take two steps and then lie down. It was pitiful to watch .
Off to the Vet's we go. Jazzy limping like crazy and still trying to pull me up their sidewalk.
Diagnosis...problems with her shoulders brought on by throwing her weight forward to ease her hip discomfort. We've added tramadol for pain and we will be giving shoulder massages daily, and gentle walks. Gotta get 5 more lbs off of her. I wish I could do more...I hate this!

Oh what a struggle for you, and poor Jazzy! Having to shift one part of her body to compensate for the other end.

Getting those pounds off should help ease things quite a bit. Good luck with that! I need to do that for Megan again. SO hard to keep weight off her.

Aw poor Jazzy. Hip/shoulder problems are rough - especially when they're both there! I hope that the additional meds can help!!

Good luck! It's so hard to get them to lose weight, especially when they give you those big brown "Poor me, so hungry and starving" eyes. Hope the meds help!

Fanny is in the same situation but luckliy has had no shoulder problems! She has been on Ascriptin for years now with no bad effects.

I got her to lose 15 pounds over the past year and a half by cutting back her food and adding green beans to her meals. Luckily she likes green beans!

    Good luck..

We will give green beans a try. Jazzy has lost about 5 lbs just decreasing the amount, but we've gotta do more!

Have you tried Previcox for her? My rottweiler had hip dysplasia (we did surgery when he was 10 months old) and then he tore his ACL when he was 9years old. He was so old so we didn't want to do surgery for the ACL if we didn't have to. Our vet first tried Deramaxx and it made Thunder really sick and didn't ease his pain. Then we switched to Previcox and tramadol everyday for a few months and OMG--what a difference. I mean, it was immediate! I would definitely ask your vet to try it. I believe it was comparable in price to Deramaxx, not cheap but worth every single penny. He was on Previcox until he passed away and never had any side effects. Hope your pup feels better.

Thanks! We'll get through this. Jazzy still has a smile on her face, and that's what counts!
