DefaultLick Lick Lick Lick Lick..... Lick Lick... what´s wrong?

Misha has taken into this odd behavior: After feeding her I have noticed she keeps licking licking lick lick lick on the air. Little tongue keeps coming out for over an hour afterwards.

I have checked her theeth (vet also did) and she seems fine, with no pain, but I´m wondering what´s going on? She also does it after her usual grass eating routines in the yard.

should I be concerned or I just have a crazy tongued dog?

    LOL @ Colin!!

Diesel started doing this too, not all the time though & not just after eating. Worried me at first because when it started I thought OMG he's gonna !!!

Check Misha's mouth for excess dog hair on the tongue, roof of her mouth - sometimes that's all it is with Diesel as he has a habit of licking the fur balls on the floor before I sweep them up. Other times, there is no reason I can see so I've just added it to his growing list of annoying things he does!!

Mitzi does that at times, and my first Lab, Heidi did it. I don't know what that's about.

it's often a sign of naseua ...(one of those words I just can't spell)
I find some dogs who get a little punky get in the habit of it too ...

Tongue flicking is also appeasement behavior when one dog is doing it in the general vicinity of another.

LOL that´s funny.... it´s exactly like a snake sniffing the air...

She doesn´t do it at Homer or at me (but if I get close of course the crazy tongue will reach me).... I haven´t seen hair stuck on there but it´s a posibility

My guess would be hair or something else stuck somewhere, between the cheek and jaw or other obscure place. When my kids do it I run my finger between the lip and jaw and it generally stops. Could just be a tiny speck of food or blade of grass.

That would be my first guess.

Nausea would be my 2nd guess.
