    DefaultSuper Product Rec for winter

Now that I find myself with an 8 month old with more energy to burn then a 45 minute walk will do for him, I make him retrieve on top of that to help wear him out a bit.

Before the snow came we were using a Chuck It glow in the dark ball, (which is also an awesome product, and I recommend too) but last night while stopping at Ryan's Pet Food here in Ontario, I stumbled upon this little baby.

Clean Run: Meteorlight K9 LED Dog Ball

Holy hannah! It's perfect. Where the other glow in the dark was getting lost in the snow because the colouring is too similar, our new red led ball wasn't. Even buried in 10 inches of fluffy snow, the soft red glow was discernible, and thus, we didn't lose any balls at the park.

It's water proof and floats apparently too. Totally fits in a Chuck It, and the dogs loved it - I think they both liked chasing the glowing ball in the snow.

Anyways, if you have a retriever but have to stop in the winter due to loss of balls and not being able to see them after they've been thrown, I totally recommend this ball.

I paid 15 plus taxes for it here in Canada.
    Me, Abzilla and the Helomonster.

Cool!! Cinder LOVES to retrieve. Maybe Santa will bring her one. I love to watch her in the snow, she puts her nose to the ground, the real ground, no matter how deep the snow is...and runs! With her head cutting through the snow. One of these days she's going to run into something.

    Ooooh thats cool.

I wish I had a ball dog. I have 1 frisbee dog and one 'toy on a rope' dog. But no ball dogs...maybe next time.

Are you implying that for a second, Rhys might not know where his frisbee lays?

I'm fairly certain he knows 100% of the time where it is. All of them. In the dark. In a heap of rotting garbage. In a moist wet cave. In the snow. If there's one in a gift box. In the African Jungle, surrounded by lion feces.

LED frisbees. I can picture THAT keeping me up at night. hehehe

I like it! Kendall and Sophie couldn't care less about retrieving, but Willow (also 8 months old) would fetch for hours! I might have to invest in one of those.

That is great! We had a lighted ball for a while, but you couldn't replace the batteries. This is much better. Cool frisbee, too.

For someone with an amazing nose for some things, Theo can be remarkably obtuse about finding his ball in the dark. I've seen him dig down into the snow to locate it, but I've also seen him walk right by it in the dark and not find it.

Melissa, LOL! Well, then, maybe you need it to liven up your nightlife.... hehehehehe

Nathan - Yeller was our finder. That dog could find whatever you threw for her, and wouldn't give up. She was awesome.

I hope Helo's still learning, and will get to that stage. Sometimes he looks and looks, and other times he's a bit like "meh, the human can find it".

Some dogs' intelligence is in figuring out how to get their people to do stuff for them. That's Theo. Three tries, and then it's the sad look and the whimper-- "Hey, you, with the opposable thumbs: Could you give me a hand over here?"
