We get bad icicles here but they have been bigger and faster forming due to heat tape we put on the roof to help drainage due to big ice dams that form and then cause leaking into the house when things start to melt.
This morning I was on the phone with hubby and heard a big bang out on the deck. I figured out right away it was the huge icicle on one side that had fallen and then realized the reason why was the dogs. They like to check out the bucket underneath it for water when they come back from a session of fetch which we had just done. I ran like crazy and found Sully right away and then took a few more to find Orson and they both looked scared to death but standing on all fours....thank GOD!
I locked them up and went and knocked down the other big one on the other side of the deck. I am going to have to be very vigilent on these from now on. It could have ended very badly.
Here are pics. The first one is the one that fell down and the second is the one I knocked down. The first one they knocked down is usually bigger than the second one on the other side and had to go right down to the bucket for them to have knocked it down.

Wow! Those are huge! I'm glad your pups are okay. :-)
I think some snuggles to ease the fear are in order. :-)
My two favorite girls.
Those are huge Sandie - glad the pups are okay - must have scared them half to death when it fell.
Glad no one was hurt.
Mine LOVE icicles. I usually pull them down and hand them off. Why don't you heave those giant icicles down, and let them snack LOL
Glad all is well.

We get huge ones here, too, Sandie. I'm always knocking them down, they scare me.
