I don't know if this has anything to do with the fact that Sadie had kennel cough. She is still taking her meds but since it all started (a week or so ago) About the 3rd or 4th day after the meds she has had 4 episodes where she makes this odd noise, almost like she is trying to breath through her nose but not opening mouth her mouth to breathe.
Kinda like a snorting sound....it lasts about 30 seconds to a minute.
I know I am not describing it the best. I am wonder if it has to do with kennel cough or her meds.
Take a look at some of these videos & see if it's the same.
YouTube - reverse sneezing in dogs
Especially this one:
YouTube - Reverse sneezing Mops Mopshond Pug
Pugs are notorious for it. Ronnie has at least 1 attack a day. Best way to stop it as in that 2nd video, put your finger over the nostrils & force her to breath out of the mouth. You might have to do it a couple of times before it stops completely.
Thanks, I didn't know there was such a thing. She kinda sounds like Murphy in your first link. I will keep an eye on her.
Sounds like it might be a reverse sneeze. Almost sounds like they can't get their breath.
Bayou Bay's Jeb's Trouble Too, RN, CGC
Definately sounds like reverse sneezing -- suppose to be quite common in dogs. Gin does it a lot - Aila hasn't done it once yet. It's not suppose to hurt them, but I think I read somewhere that you can help them through it by gently massaging their throat or putting your hand gently over their snout, which will force them to open their mouth to breathe.
That's what it sounds like to me as well. We call it "horking", LOL!
Plug her nose so she has to open her mouth to breath
