    QuestionToby is almost 6 months

and I still run home to let him out of his crate. He has never had an accident in his crate and I am sure he will be fine if I don't.

My question or more like it I need reassurance he will be ok if I don't??

How long would he be left in the crate?

Does he hold it all night? That's about the same length of time. That said. I would let him out in the middle of the day. I was gone 8-9 hours a day with Nellie but hired someone to walk her every day. I just felt bad leaving her crated all day.

I believe this is about the age we started leaving Clancey all day

Thanks, he does hold it all night. I think the guilt is getting me more than the fact he is able. But with winter coming on I won't be able to run home...it takes most of my lunch hour.

I just need to get it in my head he will be just fine.

I think he'll be fine. Why don't you try a couple days a week to get him used to it? Then you can see how he does.

Hey MWG, yeah I TOTALLY get you. When Malone hit 6 mos a few weeks ago I felt AWFUL leaving him all day. But he is FINE! I'm pretty sure he's in his 'dormant' state all day long. He is able to hold it 8-9 hours during the night and he definitely can hack it during the day while we're gone. I just make sure that I get him lots of exercise at night.

I got Dylan at five months and he was let out at lunch time for at least a year after that !

Like you , I felt guilty about leaving him for that amount of time.

I guess that the answer is to give it a try if you don't have any alternative at the moment.

He's a lot safer crated, mess or no mess and that IS unlikely.
