    DefaultQUESTION ABOUT ANTLERS

I keep reading posts about antlers. Keegan is a major chewer and can pretty much chew anything to shreds. Are these antlers safe? Can they splinter? Any information, good and bad, would greatly be appreciated. If they are safe where do you purchase them.

    Thanks for the information.

My experience has been that they tend to grind down instead of breaking off in pieces like bones (kind of like running them over a cheese grater). That said, Caleb wore the first antler I bought down on one side, not all the way around. We did end up with a chunk breaking off of that one. But, because I was keeping an eye on it, no harm was done.

ETA- Oops, sorry, forgot to add I buy them at my local pet supply store.

They are great. My dogs love them. I haven't had any issues with them, either breaking or splintering. Expensive, but worth it.

I can't give my dogs anything hard because of Abbey's teeth issues, but I know other people who have had no issues with them.

I have not tried them, but I have a bunch of them from deer I shot. I really ought to untangle them and see if the dogs like them or not!

My dogs love 'em. I buy them from PetExpertise.com.
