    Hi - thanks for asking

So I had actually two questions in the Health question and the growths tie in with the licking of the shoulder (most likely).

So they are just due to the area being damp. It is the skin on the bottom jaw (outside skin) near where his canines rest and under the skin fold of his upper lips. They likely became inflamed due to his repeated licking of hte shoulder to elbow area - an issue I had just been to the vet last week for but still had no answer on. Just some gel to apply for 5 or so days. She said once it inflames like that it is likely to reoccur.

This vet (I go to a clinic with a few vets and am usually not picky on who I see) said she could feel the tendon or whatever is enflamed in the area he is licking. So she says that is very likely the issue. So recommended action is to not let him play with other dogs of play fetch (the back and forth motions are not good) but that normal walks, even very fast walks, are fine (as it is just front to back motion) and that these injuries take awhile to heel. On and cold compress may help him feel better.

That sounds like good news to me. A tough time for you caring for him, but nothing requiring surgery or treatments that none of us like to think about. Go! Rocky! Wait! Go nice and easy, Rocky!
