    DefaultThe Book You Recommended

Last week when we had the posts about Parker, some of you suggested a book and I forgot who I got the book "The Other End of the Leash" from the library. Was that the right one and can anyone recommend any others.

Parker and I are working on NILIF as the behaviorist suggested. He is doing pretty good. I am also trying to train him to listen better and understand what I want him to do. He seems eager to please as we are devoted to each other. I am watching him in the yard. We have fencing people coming out this weekend to take a look and give us some prices.

    Everyone have a great weekend.

"The Other End of the Leash" is a great book and highly recommended. It is certainly not a training manual, but it provides good insight into understanding dog behavior and especially how dogs and people communicate.

    Good for you!

I think you will be surprised at how far obedience training goes. It's my opinion that it's about a whole lot more than just teaching your dog to sit or down or heel. While those are great things, the biggest benefit, I think, comes simply from working with them every day and the bond it creates.

I think you will find "Control Unleashed" to be helpful as well. Its main focus is agility-based, but the exercises are easily adapted.
