I WAS going to post tonight, asking how long it took your dog to learn to catch. Skippy was a wonderful catcher, but I don't remember how old he was when he started to catch treats. Emilu is about 50/50 at catching. Baxter didn't have a clue. We had started tossing him treats and they would just hit him in the face and bounce off and he was surprised to see a treat on the floor. You could tell he wasn't looking at the treat at all when we threw it. He is 4 months old, and I was wondering when he would put it together - well - today apparently. SU was throwing peanuts for them tonight (I know - not so good). About 4 hit him in the face then he opened his mouth and caught the next one! So of course I had to try it with yogurt treats - again - about 3 and then he caught one. But the best thing is, he's definitely looking at it and trying to catch it. He then caught another peanut. So in answer to my own question - about 4 months for Baxter
Sounds like he's starting to get it...
That sounds about right - WTG Baxter
Poor Dylan is over two and he can't match Jasper for catching !
Just as well he has other attributes !
Good job Baxter!!! Toby is about at 50% he is 5 months.
catching is among the first things I teach, so I'd say at about 9-10 weeks
Good boy Bax!

Good going Baxter
I think Angus was about that age when I started tossing treats at him. I remember the very first thing I spit at him - a piece of a banana. It bounced off his head and he looked at me like, "What in the hell is wrong with you?" LOL!
It doesn't take long for a Lab to learn to catch food. But Mitzi is my only one who can catch a frisbee.
