DefaultVacuum - I know not again but I really need some opinions - thanks!

I have a top of the line Oreck that is 5 years old. I have used Oreck for a really long time and have been satisfied. Today I brought up my little Dirt Devil bagless that I use downstairs only and vacuumed my bedroom area and OMG it picked up so much fur and I don't even know what that dirt/dust stuff was. It filled it up 3 times. I vacuum often so I was shocked. I then vacuumed with my Oreck since Sedona started sneezing. My Dirt Devil is small with a little filter so I think it might have thrown some dust around and my Oreck is a HEPA filter.

What does everyone here use; I know a lot of people have mentioned the Dyson animal and I have been reading reviews.

All opinions is very much appreciated.

i have the dyson but you must be careful with the type of carpeting you have. loop carpet gets ruined with dyson and dyson doesnt deny it.

I have a Bissel Pet Hair Eraser, from Walmart. Yeah, it works fantastic as long as i keep the upper part unclogged. I had a high end super expensive something or other but my son killed it (totally another story). Mine works great but i only have one area carpet to worry about oh and a love seat. Over time i've eliminated the need for it ya know? sweepable floors and leather.

I have a Dyson, and like it. The doggie day care I work for has a Hoover Elite something or other, and it works very well, especially considering the amount of hair and dirt it sucks up daily (emptied several times a day). The top filter does need to be cleaned occasionally. Both have easy to dump canisters and easy to clean filters. My Hoover Windtunnel sucks as far as emptying the canister and cleaning the filter

We have an Oreck too. The XL kind. I have bought little bagless vacuums over the years (they die quickly!!!) and they do seem to suck up ALOT of hair and dust, but then I remind myself they have a small canister and I can easily SEE it all right there. The Oreck bag is pretty big (and I push the limit most of the time!).

I would probably go for something that is bagless again with a large canister just for the sick pleasure of seeing the dirt I was picking up.
