Paddy's old Red Bed. The stadium blanket that was his and his alone. I always threw it across the bed for him but it had to be perfectly smoooooth before he'd climb upon it. After that was done, he'd lay there all day long on it. Especially when he was older.
I retired his blankie when he passed. No other shall have the Red Bed, I said. And so, I put it away.
Until last night. Paddy's protege, Seamus, was a little chilly on the floor by my side. I've thrown other baby blankets on him in the past, he'd always wriggle out... not so comfy or warming for some reason.
So, it was the night to move forward. I went to the cedar chest, got the old Red Bed out and draped it across Sheamie. If dogs can purr (and I believe they do) he did.
Tonight? Same thing. No doubt in my mind he smelled his old mentor in that blanket. I've never seen him so content since Paddy left us.
Seamus and Flynn
Tearing up here. What a touching post.
I bet it does still smell of his highness. That scent brought him peace and comfort for so many years and it still has the same effect.
Karon and Cinnamon
Aww. I bet he knows who it belonged to and it comforted him.
I think that's really, very sweet! Seamus knows, I'm convinced of that.

I can almost see Paddy smiling down at him.
Aww. That is too sweet.
Seamus is gaining comfort by Paddy's scent and the nearness to you, Nance.
It was time.

I think Paddy approved He's still with you Nance. Sweet Sheamie. Nice and warm.
