Chase! Because both my labrador AND my golden retriever got out of the house on Saturday. (Yes, please call 911...I did have a heart attack.)
Totally my fault. I was so distracted by some new purchases we made for the home that I was busy carrying things in and out of the house. Well, I didn't latch a door well and, after being cooped up in the kitchen while hubby and I put furniture together, they were itching to get out.
Luckily...they just wanted to be near me. I was busy storing some boxes in the garage when I looked down and *gasp* there they both were with me in the driveway! I hollered for hubby and started running for the front door. I used the emergency recall word and Brooklyn came running in the house. Yay! But Remy...he just wanted to play...and I was worried it was going to be in traffic. Hubby looked at me and said "Run!" and I did...right into the house and through the living room and into the kitchen and before I got to the cookie jar...there he was! Whew! Tail waggin..."can we play chase again?!"
"Yes honey...but in the fenced in back yard please."

Thank heaven that they stayed close by! How scary. I'm glad everything worked out well.
I hate moments like that! Your heart just drops!
Good ending to a scary moment. Run and play chase yelling cookies!! cookies!!! That always has worked here.

Misha and Homer did the same last week. I went to San Diego for a couple days (business trip) and left them with a good friend and vet. The day he brought them back they were the usual crazy "Oh I missed you so much... and this guy did not take us out for a walk" dogs. I took them to the yard for a quick pee, the we went to the front of the house again, where my friend was waiting at the door.
They ran out like nothing and scared a poor girl with a little Yorkie when she suddenly saw these two crazy unleashed dogs running to say hi... fortunately nothing happened. They came back right after I yelled at them
Yikes! Glad they didn't go far
Glad Brooklyn and Remy are safe. Think mommy needed a good stiff drink after waking up from her faint.

That's why I can't trust anybody else with my two !
My friend's father ( he has had LAbs for years ) was helping her move house, and left the front door open - it leads onto a main road and I'm talking 6 feet.
OK they didn't get out but if they had......
Lucky your two aren't travellers - Phew....lesson learned.
