I'd appreciate good thoughts/prayers for our sweet Kayla and ideas on how to make her more comfortable. She's 12 1/2 and her lung function is not what it should be. It's been a hard summer for her. She has fluid in her lungs and around her heart. Lasix is helping and she's basically happy but from the body language of the vet, we're on the down hill side of this. So we're doing whatever it takes to make her happy and comfortable including chicken and rice when she'd rather not eat her regular food. She still wants to go on our morning walk but can't do the regular distance. Since Jake and I need more exercise, we come home and drop her off and head back out. Jake hates leaving her, he's rarely ever walked without her (he's 4). We've been such a neighborhood fixture that people stop me to ask where my "other friend" is. I'm trying to enjoy the good days and hoping that the cooler weather, whenever THAT comes, will help her. I agree with the quote that the only bad thing about dogs is that they don't live long enough.
So, do you come here often?
I'm so sorry. Bestest-best thoughts for you and your 'senior.'
I dread that day in my own household. I absolutely dread it.......

Oh my, you bring tears to my eyes. Hugs to you and your sweet Kayla. Libby is only going to be nine, but I see signs of her aging and I just don't want to face that. Willy is stuck to her side like glue and it will be hard to get him to go for walks without her when the time comes. Prayers your girl has many years to be with you still.
Prayers for your sweet Kayla.
Prayers for sweet Kayla.
Sometimes I look at my oldest and dread the thought of that day coming, but then think like Labs and cherish each precious present moment we have together.
I know how heartbreaking dropping her home again must be JL good vibes for Kayla xxx
Lots of good thoughts and prayer for Kayla...and you too
It's so true that their biggest flaw is not living long enough. All we can do is enjoy every moment that we have with them, and do our best to make them as comfortable and happy as possible. It sounds like you're doing a great job of that. Kayla is a very lucky girl.
Good thoughts for sweet Kayla.
Our prayers for sweet Kayla and you.
