    DefaultLooking for Advice on Crate

    Quick question..

As you know I am crate training my puppy Stoli, As I am going to work next week I have been leaving her in the crate a few hours a day to get her adsjust so its not sudden when I'm gone for 4 hrs at a time next week. So the neighbors(upstairs) complained that she is too loud for their 6mo old baby when alone and the landlord asked that I put her in the basement. It is heated and dehumidified. Anyway I put her down there today and she cried the whole time. When I went to get her I saw that she peed in her crate. This is the first time she has done this in a week.

Could this be because of the new surroundings?? Is she going to be okay in just 3 days if she is not fully crate trained??

    Any advice would be welcomed

Leave a radio or tv on for her. She should be fine. They're always going to cry a bit, especially if she's not used to being where you put her. Try moving her crate around a bit upstairs when you are home to get her acclimated.

Dogs are pretty resiliant. I am gone for 9 hours a day at work, I do have a dog walker, but have always crated my puppies for 4 hours a day then out an hour with the walker and then 4 more hours. They've all survived and are all very well behaved in a crate...well, except Ruby but that's not her fault.

When we first got Dio, I put him in his crate for 30 mins at a time for 3-4 days, then 1 hour for 2-3 days, then up from there. He now stays in for 4-5 hours at a time and has an hour break at lunch to play and go to the bathroom. He still whines from time to time, but it`s only when he realises we're in the house with him. As soon as we leave, the whining ends.
