Light, "weedy" individuals are definitely incorrect; equally objectionable are cloddy lumbering specimens. Labrador Retrievers shall be shown in working condition well-muscled and without excess fat. Females should weigh between 55 and 70lbs and Males between 65 and 80lbs. Height females 21.5 to 23.5 inches males 22.5 to 24.5 inches at the withers.

I wish the National was closer this year, I'd be there. I went last year when it was in Illinois. I love going to the National and catching up with friends. You're right, a week of Lab stuff and hanging out.....Priceless!!

El Stupido Question: Is this the National in Vicksburg, MS in a month or so to crown the National Field Champion, or something else?

Enjoy! I would have loved to come back to So Cal for the event to see all my old friends from the LRCSC but with being unemployed so long, I have no traveling cash. Here's wishing you Q's in everything!

Not a stupid question. I actually looked it up tp make sure, but no, the Nationals everyone else is talking about is the Labrador Retriever Club of America's National Specialty. According to the premium, it's in California. I think the thing in Vicksburg is the National Field Trial Championships or something like that.

This is the Labrador Retriever National (AKC) Held by the Parent Club for Labs in southern California this year from 10-9-2010 to 10-15-2010. This is an event that has multiple venues from Show dogs (Confirmation) to Agility, tracking (people), obedience, rally. hunt test, working certificate, etc..Also the same week is the Master National in Northern California which is a hunt test for all retrievers (not just labs) that have qualified over the year by getting 6 passes in Master Hunt tests at Master National Club Events. I believe the one in Vicksburg is the National Field Championship which will crown the National Field Champion (NFC)for 2010 again for all breeds of retrievers but most are labs. This should make it as clear as mud...lol

LOL: There are too many "Nationals." Ellie Mae Q'd 6/8 for the "Master National" but we are not able to take 2.5 weeks of vacation to drive to Calli to run it, and I don't want to send my dog off with a pro. I will certainly go watch the "National" in Vicksburg to see the "big dogs" run. Its very impressive for us schmucks still running master and the Q.

SOunds expensive, but you are right priceless for spending a week with your dog doing stuff.

I have never been to a National, or even a specialty. I came close for Huron River Specialty this year, but was not aware if it until too late to enter (entries close today). Maybe next year!

    Good luck!
