DefaultWes in the mornings: Just the fall? Indicative of getting older? wha?

He's not hearing my alarm in the mornings.

    Snoring right through it.

Doesn't waken until I actually go touch him. It's like waking up a grandpop who has fallen asleep in a comfy chair. "Wes?.... Wesley??? C'mon bud....."

    Not every morning.

But increasingly. Was 2x just in the past week. Of course, it's full-dark again at 5AM.

    Still.

I miss the days when he'd schnuffle in my ear: "DAD! DAD! LETSGO! CMON! WAKEUP! THE DAY IS STARTING!!!!"

Dan, Libby is getting the same way. Some days we have to wake her up so she can go out. I think it's a combination of both, the chilly mornings all snuggled down in bed and getting older. I know how they feel, I don't want to get up either.

    Yeah... ~sigh~

I've been trying to determine if his hearing is in question. It doesn't SEEM to be...

Especially w/phrases like "Want a cookie?" "It's suppertime" and "How about a piece of cheese?"

Nellie is like that. She is extremely lazy first thing in the morning and has an iron bladder. Bailey on the other hand is in my face panting and bouncing up and down; "let's go, let's go." LOL

I definitely chalk that up to the new darkness. My natural waking up time is 5:00 AM. So do all the guys (they sleep with me). My get up time is 5:40. So do all the guys. But now that it is dark at that hour? I get up, they kind of hang back, like it's not really really time yet. Sun's not up so why should we? Like that.

Meant to add - mine pay no attention to the alarm. Ever. They know I'm going to lay there for 10 more minutes, so that beeping sound simply does not register with them.

I think it could be a sign of getting older - Gin is 13 and sleeps through almost anything. In fact, when we get home from work, she is snoring away on the sofa. We're probably home for a good 10-15 minutes before she wakes up. If I have to wake her up in the morning to take her out, I have to do it very gently as she startles very easily.
