    DefaultBummer!

So we took Brenner to the vets last night for his check-up. They said he's a bit older then we were told....probably closer to 5 months or so and not the 14 weeks like we were told.

And the worst part of all......she said he may fill out some and maybe grow a little but he's probably gonna be small for ever. He's only 24lbs now

I'm sorry you are disappointed - but he is still an adorable puppy. Honestly, what difference does his size make?

I've just always liked larger dogs better. We thought he would be 60lbs or so (from what the rescue told us) so hearing that he will be little was news.

Going from a 85lb down to a 25lb one is quite the difference.

Well... I guess you'll just have to get another one.

Seriously, having a big and a little is the bees knees.

Yeah we will get a 2nd down the road. One is enough for us right now!

IMO - Rescues are frequently innaccurate in their estimation of size and breed in many mixed breed dogs/puppies they put up for adoption. Sometimes they find a characteristic of some obscure breed in a mixed dog and decide that the puppy is a Pharoah Hound mix (????). Probably not.

It's very hard to look at a small puppy with no knowledge of the actual parents and guess at the size of the adult dog. I never have adopted a mixed breed dog with an expectation of what the resultant adult would be like.

If what you want is predictability then you really need to go with a purebred dog. Otherwise it's more about loving the dog you have for who he is - not what he looks like.

I understand all that. I don't love him any less or anything. I just thought he was going to be bigger, but he's not going to.

He is our 2nd dog, first puppy. Got Brody at 15 months old and had a pretty good idea of what he would be full grown. This is out first experience w/ a puppy and from a rescue. We really didn't know what to expect or not to expect.

What ever size he end up is fine w/ us, I just had hoped he would be bigger that's all.

Look at it this way - if he stays relatively small, he'll make a sweet lap dog!

Sorry to hear he's not going to be quite as big as you'd like, but gosh darn he's a cutie!

I hope he never looses the puppy face!

    Pros:
We will go threw 1/3 the food, get to buy cute little collars, takes up less room on the couch, his crate will always be a palace to him, and the list goes on!
