Bella was in a 30" long crate until she was about 7 or 8 months old, and it was fine. Freddy is in the same crate, and at 16 weeks it's already just barely long enough when he stretches out full length (not counting the tail). What size crate do you recommend for an adult lab? I was thinking maybe 42" long. He hopefully won't be in it forever but it's going to be at least a few more months. I want my big baby boy to be comfy!

Our 10-month old pup is in an extra large crate. I believe that, in addition to dimensions, crates usually describe the weight size.
I have a 42 and a 48 and they are the most comfy in the 48. Plenty of room to stretch out in there.
The one I have for both my dogs (3 yr old 100lbs, and 4mos old 42lbs) is 42Lx28wx30H They both seem comfy, and have plenty of room.
it will likely depend on the lines the puppy comes from, labs come in all shapes and sizes these days.
My boy is tall so when he was crated daily it was a 42" crate to give him more space. Now the crate is for outings/events/travel and he doesn't spend as many hours in there so I have a 36".
