This morning I had to run to Tractor Supply. It's next door to Walmart so I asked Carol to come with me and we'd pick up our licenses while it's not busy there.
Got in and out quickly and would have been even faster if Carol and the gal clerk hadn't had a prolonged discussion about different ways to cook okra.
When we got home, I looked at the receipts I asked Carol ...
"Why did you pay CASH instead of using our Cabela's card?"
"I didn't pay for the licenses, I thought you did" ... she replied.
"Nope, and that's what you two chatter boxes get for talking cooking during a very devout transaction!"
What would you do?
I called back down to Walmart and was able to get a hold of the other chatter box. Told her what happened and she almost swallowed her teeth when she thought it through and remembered that she DIDN'T ring up the payment.
I gave her my Visa Card over the phone and she ran $80 through on it. Thanked me profusely for the honesty and I told her ... "just make sure that we DO get our Fed Waterfowl Stamps in the mail before season starts, AND ... wish us a record season harvest for being honest. She did.
You're a good person and I bet the salesclerk will never forget you!
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am

Honesty always pays off in the end
You did the right thing Jim. It always pays to keep your karma in a positive vein. Good luck with hunting season too!
Love JL. Justlabradors.com!!!
You will be rewarded with lots of birds
Yes, I believe you will have a good harvest this year. You're a good man.
Walmart may not, but some (smaller) companies would either make the cashier pay for the mistake out of their wages or let them go...or perhaps things aren't so bad in the US. I'm so glad you were honest, and may you get what you wish for.
Your a good guy Jim. It always feel good to do the right thing
