I noticed on Friday Kate had a few bumps on her belly. Of course we were on the road to NY. I watched them all weekend at the hunt test and this morning she had several more and one or two of them looked red. Kind of like pustules. So I called our vet and they said to bring her right in. Vet thinks it is some type of infection. She had this as a puppy once. It could be alot of things. Running in the ponds and getting in the crate when her belly is still wet. We do dry her off but maybe it was still wet. Or maybe a grass allergy but she isn't chewing on her paws or showing signs of scratching or biting herself.
So we have to see if she continues to get this. Some of the ponds they train in are not the cleanest. so who knows. If she continues to get this our vet will get us an appointment with a vet dermatologist. It is not bad but we went in before it got worse.
Always something. I also got 3 Frontline Plus & a 6 month supply of Interceptor. $129.00 later my wallet is lighter but I feel better getting Kate on the antibiotics.
Kate is to be out of the water for 7 days. Anyone else have this with their dogs?
No experience but sending good healing thoughts Kate's way!
Hope Kates bumps are all better real soon!
Hope she is doing better soon
Hope Kate is feeling better now! It's always a little worrisome when they have to go to the vet.
I would guess some type of staph infection. Pretty common with dogs that swim in crappy ponds with duck/goose poop.

That is what we thought Laura. I think all of the girls at one time or another have had a staph infection on the bellies. The grass was high on the grounds in NY and of course there were ducks & geese everywhere. Our vet always says we catch everything so quick...there were only 2 red bumps and other small white ones. I told her we are always checking for ticks and burrs of all sorts when they finish running so we pretty much know when something is different.
zena ended up with staph on her belly last year after a flea bite. evidently, she has a flea allergy...ended up with bumps and staph followed.
No advice, just good healing thoughts for Kate.

Poor Kate. The only problems I ever had with water was torn up foot pads from the rocks on the beach.
