    DefaultWorried about Wally

I had my foster dog Wally neutered Tuesday - the vet I brought him too is a little over an hour away since they offer a lab rescue discount. Well, he is so swollen and purple now that I am a bit worried. I called the vet yesterday and they said that is common but I could bring him in if I would like for them to check but it's over a 2 hour round trip. It has been 8 years since I had a dog neutered but do not remember this kind of swelling. I read a lot on line that also said it was common - did not happen all the time, it depends if the vets tie off a certain tube during the procedure - and that the swelling will go down once the blood is reabsorbed in the body. The bruising will fade then too. He has been confined in his crate since the surgery - only out for bathroom trips which I keep him as quiet as a 10 month old lab that has been crated can be! He is eating, peeing, pooping, acting fine. Any experience with this?

Swelling is normal. Just keep an eye for oozing or redness. I am sure he will be fine.
