    DefaultDuke's DockDog Weekend Photos

In four waves Duke won one first and one second place ribbons in the Junior Division and in the other two competitions he jumped 15' 1" and 15' 2" to earn Senior Division Qualifiers. I was worried that Duke may not be interested in jumping as he did not show any interest in practicing two weeks ago. In the open practice session prior to the first competition I was just going to let Duke swim off the return ramp to get wet and use to the water temperature. When I released him at the base of the entrance stair to the dock he went charging up and then ran down the dock and jumped in. I got to the end of the dock to see him swimming around and I held up his orange bumper and hollered 'Duke, are you looking for this." I guess he was really excited to jump.

Here is Duke checking out the facility to make sure all is OK to his satisfaction.

Duke patiently sitting at the back of the dock.

    Here he comes.

    Lift off.

14' 6" and 14' 8". Those jumps would have qualified him for the Junior Finals but by jumping over 15' twice he was bumped up to the Senior Division and did not qualify for the finals. Sometimes he just jumps too far.

Woohoo! Go Duke! I can't wait to work with my two to increase their jumping distance. There was a Chessie at the competition this past weekend who was jumping 25-26 feet! WOW!

Was that Chessie names Henry? If so he was the top Big Air Dog last year when he was seven years old. This year at eight he is still jumping Super Elite. Henry will be in the Hall of Fame for sure.

Way to go, Duke! I've been reading your posts on Duke on Dockdogs.com. (I'm kvaillan on there). So glad to hear that he had such a good outing (and a fun time!)
You wouldn't think that watching dogs jump into a pool would be so much fun (and addictive!)
