Scoobie is our new Henery&Ollie-hauler, a 2010 Subaru Forester!! Scoobie joined our family almost two months ago, but since no commercially available set of crates would fit two large labradors, plus give me enough room between crates and the rear hatch for peace of mind (in case of a rear-end accident, I did not want a crate with boyz anywhere near the rear hatch), we had a crate custom-made for the boyz. It just arrived this week, and today, my brother and I secured it into Scoobie so that the boyz would ride in comfort and safety.
Vic found the crate-maker, Sam (of Performance Designs, out of Maryland) online, and we commissioned our crate. This thing is not only a fantastic piece of craftsmanship, but a solid beast. I have no doubt that the boyz will be completely protected in case of an accident. His usual clients are police forces and search and rescue teams, and we were his first Canadian clients.
Without further ado, Scoobie (the boyz' new pimped out ride) and the crate.
Scoobie with crate.
Crate doors (which are lockable) open.
A view of the removable centre divider. It is bolted in place because Sam said, if there's nothing worse, it's a rattle, so he bolts his dividers. Now that's workmanship.
We also had our crates made with emergency escape doors. In the event of a rear-ending, we may not be able to get to the boyz from the rear hatch. This is what happened when Vic and I were rear-ended in his Pathfinder last fall. So, Sam put in two side doors which could be accessed via the rear passenger doors. (crate has not been levelled in this picture)

very nice! they certainly look very sturdy and secure. The crew look like they like them as well.
Love it. I couldn't see Ollie though, he blends right into his crate.
I'm rather jealous, that looks great!
FELICCIIAAA!!!! this is fantastic!!!! I love it! It looks very sleek and sexy I've been contemplating on costume made crates for the van (verry pricy so i've been a little hesitant). They are officially the cool kids on the block.
Very nice!! The kids should be safe and secure in their new "home".
Wow! Those are some serious crates! Very impressive.
And Scoobie is really nice too. Congrats!
