WATERMELON! Rusty's first ever taste of fresh cold watermelon. Needless to say, he LOVED it.

He is just the most adorable doggie. I can't remember - is he a labradoodle or a goldendoodle? I keep showing his pics to SU, and keep calling him a labradoodle, but something in my mind says otherwise.

Actually ... Rusty was quite tentative at first. He didn't have a clue what was being stuck in front of his face. He sort of nibbled at it while Remi looked on in dismay and impatience.

Then I thought that it might be a good idea to let Remi show Rusty how to eat watermelon ... Wrong. REMI ... EASY!

So it was Cappy's turn. He's been savoring cold sweet watermelon for 11 years now and he eats it like a machine. Same with corn of the cob ... and gently too, while I'm holding it for him. Good boy Capper.

SU is correct, Rusty's a Labradoodle. His Mom is an apricot colored Standard Poodle and her parents were a white and a charcoal Standard Poodle, Dad was a Yellow Lab as were his parents. Rusty's color more resembles his mother's than the yellow Labs.

I've just recently made the acquaintance of a fella in Dallas with a 6-1/2 month old Golden Doodle. (I know, I know ... fingernails on the blackboard to many here.) This young man sought me out after a duck hunting buddy of his told him that there is an old man up near Ivanhoe TX who trains yellar dawgs and is now working with Doodles. He e-mailed and told me that. I e-mailed him back and told him his friend was full of $hit! I am NOT an old man! Just seasoned and experienced.

Anyhow ... here's BEAR ... very nice looking 6-1/2 mo old with the obvious genetic traits that can be developed. I've offered to help.

Great pictures! Rusty is sooo cute. I don't think Snicks has ever tried watermelon. I'll have to give her a taste.
