    DefaultCanned food/dry food question

Once a week (Saturday and Sunday mornings) my girls get half a can of wet food (canned) mixed in with their dry food for breakfast. Does the canned food have to be from the same line as the dry food (Wellness dry food/Wellness canned food) or is it ok to use a canned food from a different food line than the dry food?

I never feed canned food, but if I did, I'd at least make sure it was the same quality/protein base.

The girls only get it for breakfast on the weekends, they split one can between them for 2 meals each. I don't feed it any other time.
It will definitely be the same quality, just different company.

Mine get canned with their dry every day ! I believe that both are excellent quality !

If you post all of the ingredients here however you will get a plethora of opinions !

I am thinking of using Wellness grain free canned and Innova EVO(also grain free) canned foods. Not all the time, just a special treat for breakfast on the weekends.

I have used Evo canned for a couple of years ... just a spoon full in the morning with Percise dry dog food. Precise Plus Overview

I agree. Dozer gets canned food occasionally as a treat in his kong only. It works great frozen.

Lucy and Abby get 1/4 a can of Pro Plan canned dog food (fed twice a day so that would be 1/2 can per dog) mixed with their dry food. Otherwise, they won't eat I guess that's what you call spoiled! But I think as long as you don't give them an entire giant can at every feeding it should be okay. And I agree that it should be the same quality, which I'm sure you would already assume anyways. Hope this helps!

I never give can, not that I see it as wrong just don't see a need. Sammi gets just a little water over her kibble once a day, makes it's own little gravy, well as I see it : ) She loves it no matter what, so I'm thinking its more for me then her ; )

As long as the can isn't for large breed puppies......
