DefaultAnyone seen wet suits or coats dogs can swim in.

I am desperate to help Erns.
Adequan isn't working as well as it has been for his hips and joints. At the moment he is on Tramadol and rest as he is in pain. He can't have NSAIDs with his gut and vets are running out of options.
I need to keep him swimming as this is best thing for him. Problem is 5 months of the year it is too cold. A heat pump for his pool is around $6,000 and I just can't afford that.

I am clutching at any straws trying to help him. Any ideas would be really appreciated.

Some of ours are solar blanket which will give us a couple of months more.Maybe even enclosing the pool so it is warmer.

eta link. I have found this. Anyone know anything about them. Gosh they look riduclous. » Wetsuits for Dogs

Who cares what he looks like as long as he's warm !

Look at what they go through for Halloween ! and that photo of him in his apron !

Goodness knows whether that would work in the water though ?

Thank you. . It was a long shot when I googled wet suits for dogs. This is the type of thing. I wonder if they are for swimming.
A wet suit or something that would keep him warm in the water rather than try to heat the pool would be ideal.

One more thing. I get tons of questions and comments about our dogs' competition vests. Everyone thinks they are for warmth. They are not. They are just for looks, so please don't get one of these thinking they would help you with what you want.

Well, they might keep them warm. I really don't know because I've never asked them. But what I mean is they aren't intended for warmth.

I would have thought yours were for show not warmth. People ask me that with his life vest. I was looking for one that would go over his hips. I tried to contact them to ask if they could be used in a pool, but it wont take my NZ address so asked a friend to find out for me.

Thank you for this. I think this is what I will do. I think even if it isn't 100% water proof it might just take the chill off the water.

Cabela's has some neoprene vests about 6 mm thick that provide a little flotation plus some insulation for retrieving from cold water. I'll see if I can find a link and ETA it.
