DefaultNLR - NDR - Just outright upsetting

Read this article about no-kill/low kill shelters and it is just upsetting that this time of activity would take place under a claim that leads us think these are good places.

    Animal shelter turned into a
Hershey Kisses, In charge of getting Ed out to the dog park so that he gets some exercise.

It makes me so angry to read that poor helpless animals are being treated this way. If the laws on animal neglect and abuse were tougher and enforced more often maybe, just maybe these idiots would think twice before neglecting or harming an animal. To claim that you are a no kill shelter and let all your animals suffer is abuse. They would be better off being put down humanely, than suffer a long horrific death. My prayers go out to all those poor animals.

I am on dial up so not opening the article (takes forever)
but there is nothing wrong with being a GOOD no kill/low kill shelter
you set your own criteria for euthanasia - all shelters or organizations do

there is nothing that says no kill means you can never euthanize

it makes me ill to think of animals suffering needlessly and pointlessly simply for someone who thinks that validates their claim to be no kill

"At the Clarksdale-Coahoma County Animal Shelter in Mississippi, a facility built to hold 60 dogs was discovered in January to be crammed with 400 animals. " (quoted from article)

“She asked me, ‘What is wrong with the shelter?’” Alderson said, recalling a conversation with the former director. “She honestly saw nothing wrong … it wasn’t rational.” (That would be the director of the above shelter in Mississippi, also quoted from the article)

That's what I can't believe. And the article siad the inside was worse than the outside. That's just horrid. If we did that to prisoners, the civil rights people would go nuts! I hope those people pay for what they did. That's just awful. Reason enough to go visit the shelters once in a while...even if it breaks your heart.

so so true - you really can't judge until you see for yourself what is happening

getting access can be tricky though ...
