An online friend has a litter of 4 week old puppies. Purebred, Champion sired, mother is from a long line of Champions, all clearances on the parents etc.
Well SURPRISE! 4 of the puppies in that litter were born with the expression of a LONG HAIRED gene.
These puppies are absolutely 100% Labrador, and are unique in only that the gene has been expressed. There are probably a lot of Labradors out there that carry the long haired gene, but its not often expressed because its recessive.
