DefaultHKs growth falls off in vets hand???

HK had a vet appointment today. Had to get her a Bortadella shot because I have to board her the night of DD's wedding. Seems all our pet sitters are going to be at the wedding too! How inconsiderate! Tried to talk DD into including HK in the wedding, but that didn't fly very well.

Anyway, late last week I found a lump on her skin. It looked like a wart so I thought it could wait for the same appointment. As the vet brushed her finger across it in examining it, off it came. Diagnosis: Papiloma (sp?) and it was ready to fall off. This kind of made my day. I was pretty sre it wasn't a cancerous growth, but its always in one's mind when something is growing where it shouldn't be.

    Woohoo! That's wonderful, Ed.

Wish all our pups who have weird things growing where they shouldn't could have such a happy outcome.

Phew - I'm glad it wasn't anything. I guess it couldn't have been that bad if it fell right off!

That's good! Bauer had a histiocytoma removed a couple of months ago, and still has a bald spot on his ear (doesn't look like any hair is growing back). It's nice when things work themselves out (or off in this case).

That is awesome news! So far no growths on Tal or Barney, but Midnight (my cat) had to have one removed earlier this year from her ear. Thankfully, it was nothing!

    Ed, how old is HK?

If she's about 2, that's the age at which Giffin & Carlson, "Dog Owner's Home Veterinary Handbook," say that most dog's immune systems mature and reject papilloma viruses (warts).
