So, Baby Moka has been confined to her crate 24/7 for 3 weeks now while her broken leg heals. She has been doing really well...a little whiney, very vocal and she acts like a crazy person when we take her to go potty, but overall she is tolerating being in the crate much better than I anticipated. She has been walking on her leg a bit more, and walking normally too-no limp!!
Today, she had another appointment with the surgeon for x-rays and an evaluation. After her x-rays the ortho doc decided that it was time for the pins and rod to be removed from her leg. She is healing very nicely and very quickly. He's afraid, because she is healing so quickly and growing so quickly, that leaving the rod in much longer would make it that much more difficult to remove, as the bone would grow around it too much. Also, with her growth spurts (she's 5 months) it is pushing the rod in her leg up, nearing the knee joint. So, we left her at the hospital, she'll have the surgery early this afternoon and we'll pick her up tonight!! She'll have holes in the side of her leg from the pins, which stuck out of her leg, and she'll have an incision and stitches up near her knee from the rod removal, but that's it!! No more cast thing...(or Twinkie as we called it) on her leg!! There was no traumatic damage to her growth plates either, which was a huge concern and would have required additional surgeries later on and would have most likely caused a limp for the rest of her life. So, good news all around!!
She still has to be confined to her crate 24/7 for at least 2-3 more weeks, no running, jumping, playing or stairs still while the leg bones fully heal, but the end is in sight!!! After a few more weeks of confinement we will take her in for one last set of x-rays, then we can slowly integrate her normal activities back in, although I know I will be super cautious for a long time after this...typical mom!!
Thank you guys for all your support and well wishes!!
I'll post new pics soon!!

Good stuff! Lots of kisses to littl Moka!
Awwww....great news!!! Goodbye Twinkie, LOL!
Perhaps one reason why you should be grateful !
I will always remember when our Palomino Maverick ( 16 hands ) was on box rest ( Kept in the stable while his tendon damage healed )
It took two of us - one either side to walk him ( vet's instructions ) gently to allow for gentle exercise ...............................Hah !
We feared for our lives ! No exaggeration ! Take some comfort from that !
But, she is big enough...she weighs 40 lbs, which is fine, except that I only weigh 100 lbs, so carrying her up and down the porch steps to go out to potty terrifies me!!! lol
I'm definitely super excited that all is well.....hoping the surgery went well!!
