DefaultMy ambitious 2009 Christmas card idea...

I'd have never attempted something like this with Huckle. When Connie posted a couple weeks ago about how great it is to have an obedience trained dog I immediately thought of this years Christmas photo shoot which would never had been possible if Guthrie was not obedience trained.

My ambitious idea was to get Guthrie with the New Hope Ivyland Train going by behind him. During the Christmas season it runs as the "North Pole Express" carrying Santa along on all the rides...passing out presents. I knew it was going to be a huge challenge but thought Guthrie was up for it. I was so impressed with how good he did. Even though none of the pictures turned out quite good enough for my card at least we got some experience....perhaps things will work next year.

Sitting waiting for the train. Guthrie has no idea what he is about to experience.

The cross bar warning bells start to clang and the train whistle blows....Guthrie spins around to see what all the clatter is about.

This is what it sounds like. Check it at at the 2:00min mark....that is exactly where we were taking pictures. Had I known about this video I would have played it for Guthrie before we went!!

Another attempt....still not liking that whistle...his ears HURT!

Decided to nix the ribbon to make things easier. We got snow which made things even better. Managed to catch the train as it passed but didn't like the exposure on Guthrie.

Another attempt....so many factors...now Guthrie was exposed nicely but the beautiful red train cars look black. Drat!

This shot was just taken as the engine was changing rails...my favorite shot even though I was not even thinking it might make a good Christmas shot...had not removed his regular collar.

Good Boy Guthrie! Very nice pics! Nice train too. Love the last pic of the handsome boy, even if he has his collar on. It doesn't bother me in the pic.

The idea was just great...I love the next to last one with the close up of him and the train...I think that is the best one! What a cool thing to get to see! Thanks for sharing!

Just an idea for future shots. Take a shot of the train. Then take a shot of your dog. Then merge them in photoshop. You'll come out with what you are looking for

I think Guthrie did a great job sitting by that train. The one where the train is changing tracks scares me, I'm worried the dog will run and get hit by the train. Silly me (since I know he didn't).

Gutherie is so stinkin adorable!!! I love his sweet face! All the pics were good in spite of them not being what you were after. I love the sound of the train in the video. How cool is that. BTW, maybe Gutherie wants to be a train engineer?

Nice shots; beautiful train AND dog I like the ones where the train is in the distant background and you can see the billowing smoke, yet Guthrie is the focal point.
