What a guy. Trip to the vet today to run pheno titers and check thyroid.
Dream boy getting into the car. No lead, just "To the car, Flynn!" In he hopped. Riding in the car? Smoooooth... laying down the entire way. Wuhl, it's only 1 mile, but still. The parking lot was a little iffy... he HATES being on lead, but we always manage. When it was time to let him out of the car? As usual, he always waits until I open his door... he never bolts to get out... he waits until I say "Okay... out now."
Inside the vet's? Ohhhhhhh what a SCHMOOZER! The most exquisite manners I've even seen! Didn't approach too closely to the cat in the crate that was right under his nose, sat immediately upon my request, greeted all incoming with that wonderful uplifted Lab head and ever-so-soft body wag (and nice tail set, Laura *giggle*) ... "Hello! How are you? My name is Flynn. May I lick your hand, please?"
On to the exam room. La la la dee dah... we wait for Doc. Doc finally comes in and we get particulars out of the way. Time for THE TEST. Doc asks Flynn to come over to him and sit, Flynn does. Nicely. Doc tosses a treat into the air which Flynn snagged without hesitation. Doc smiles, performs this little routine four more times. Doc is having a good time. Doc is smiling. Doc says "Well, he passes the vision test." I think Doc was just having a really good time. He had a female Lab once, lived to 15. He always mentions her.
Time for the blood work. Doc takes Flynn's lead and says "Come with me, now." Uh... Flynn wasn't quite so sure about leaving me in the exam room so I went with. On to the scale (87 pounds). BEAUTIFUL quiet sit, Flynnie! Good boy! Thank you! I leave the room so the tech can get the needed samples. I was told "What a good patient he was!" Did I beam? No... my heart glowed!
Then, waiting for the bill, he just continued to gently greet the people who came and went, minded me when I told him "off" the counter where one of the resident cats stays.
When we got home, after politely getting out of the PaddyWagon and dashing to the top of the drive, he happily wriggled out of his collar and tried to run off.
I love this bad boy. I really love this bad boy!

Karon and Cinnamon
LOL! I am not sure why I find this so funny, but I can't stop giggling. I love your stories about your dogs (and their conversations)."Hello! How are you? My name is Flynn. May I lick your hand, please?"
Good boy Flynn! You might be naughty sometimes, but your momma sure loves you.
Debi and Bauer
Some people are like slinkies. Not really good for much, but bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.
