DefaultNLR - Max loses crown as top dog name in U.S.

Fan fever for the “Twilight” franchise has spread its way to the pet world: Bella, the name of the series’ heroine, has usurped Max as the most popular dog name of 2009. See which dog and cat monikers were paws-down most popular in 2009 — and most unusual, too (Fetch, Kanye East!).

Quinn was Bella when she was born. I would have figured Jake or Jacob would be the top name though.

I've always liked the name Bella and considered it for a dog of mine. I didn't think Max was the top dog name though, I thought it would have been Buddy.

I am surprised Max was the top name too. Bauer would have been Bella (if he would have been a girl , but not because of Twilight). The unusual names were funny too, Doogie Schnauzer, MD

We named our girl "Bella" when we adopted her 8+ years ago. At least around here, it was not a particularly common name at the time.

My brother´s Golden puppy is Belle, but named after Belle from Disney´s Beauty and the Beast.

There are some very funny names: Sargent Sausage, Mouse Meat, and Clawed Monet... LOL
