    DefaultPayton Vole hunter-inspired by Joflake's thread-2 pics

Joflake's dogs behave just like Payton in the snow. Payton is always sticking her head under the snow, but....this one time, on Christmas Day, she actually came up with a vole! Dan calls it her Christmas present. And, yes, she was thrilled with her bounty! I always thought she was fabricating the presence of these creatures- silly me.

Abbey does that with her head in the snow, too! But I guess I'm lucky she hasn't come back up with any rodents yet!

Yikes! I hope Bauer never finds anything like that in the snow.

HaHa! One time we went for a walk in a field that had a very crusty snow cover on it. You didn't break through when you walked. There were places that were wet though and had cracks and breaks in the snow. Well, there were mice under the snow. The dogs smelled them, dug around, the mouse jumped out, ran across the snow with them in hot pursuit, until it found another break and back under it went. Those dogs played for a long time trying to find that mouse again. So we know there is something under there, they must remember the mouse episode.

No ... But we left it out in the field hoping the owls or the hawks would make good use of it.
