    DefaultIndoctrination of a Goose Dawg!

3 year old Emma is having her first waterfowl season with us here this year. She's already retrieved a number of ducks but hasn't had an opportunity on a Canada Goose yet ... until this morning. Emma, her big sister Ria and their Daddy Dave Benton were in a pit blind about 60 yards down the shore from us.

Shortly after LST a lone Honker came sailing towards our floaters about 35 yards out when I nailed it with a load of Kent Fast Steel 2s. Cappy was in the blind with me and marked the Honker's fall. He cried and whined and carried on when I called Dave on the radio and told him to send Emma on the retrieve. Here she is on her virgin flight! ...

We ended up with 6 drake mallards, a drake Pintail, a Ringer and the Honker for a 9 bird hunt. Each of the three dawgs had three retrieves.

    Cappy and Daddy ...

Dave with Ria and Emma ...

Back home, Carol posing with with Cappy and Remi. Carol and Remi slept in today.

and three tired dawgs after a warm water wash down and a good lunch ...

I think Remi was still sleepy from the looks of that picture she is yawning.

Looks like the 3 dogs that hunted had a blast.
