My WORD! This boy can clear out a room! Must be from my husband's side of the family!
Sometimes a change in diet helps.
REALLY! That would be cool - I just get nervous about changing foods. He eats Eagle Pack Holistic Large Breed Puppy.
I'm not too familiar with Eagle Pack so I'm going to have to look it up, but sometimes a diet too rich in protein can have that effect. Abbey was on Evo, a grain-free kibble, which is very high in protein and it gave her horrible gas and loose stools. I switched to another grain-free kibble a little bit lower in protein and the problem went away.
BTW - do you feed Milkbones? Those give really bad gas, too.
Milly didnt have gas problems on that Eagle Pack food..... she just had very dry skin alot. So we are now on California Naturals Herring and Sweet Potato and I think it's the best food we've had her on yet. No eye gunk, no gas, no dry skin etc... the food smells awful (the herring in it!! :vomit but she LOVES it and it's working great. Very happy customer here!
(note: we switched Milly to adult food at 11months, if your pup is still very young the food I have my girl on may not be suitable for him. But the California Naturals brand has a great puppy food. And it's on par in quality with the Eagle Pack.)
My kids get Eagle Pack Holistic too. They do well on it, but it is really high protein. We had a few anal gland problems at first, but that's past now.
I don't think EP Hol LB Puppy is all that high in prot at all. In fact it is a very moderate level. Some dogs can just be very gassy
He may grow out of it. My boy had gassy moments during puppyhood. He also had times where he would express his anal glands A LOT :vomit: Thank GOSH he grew out of that!
It might just be the Milkbones! I know that my 5 year old sneaks a LOT of them to him. She thinks it's so cool that he will sit and shake and go lay down whenever she tells him too. I think he's just in it for the treats!
Eagle Pack is 23% protein 12% fat with a lamb based protein. It could be the protein source that is the cause of the gas. Eagle Pack in general is a very good food. I've used it for 20+ years different dogs and have no complaints.
