    DefaultTicks are back

After a quiet fall the tick war is beginning again. We have not had a freeze this winter so the ticks are back.
I treated both boys with Frontline Plus and put a new flea/tick collar on. These things seem to be indestructible.
I am going to avoid having the yard treated as I am going to try to reintroduce some fire ants this spring. I can easily control the spread of the ants but having one colony in the yard seems to control the ticks. I have not had any problems with the boys getting into the ants.

Ticks totally freak me out. Luckily we have about 15 inches of snow right now so I don't intend to see them until spring.. which is farrrrr away!

Fire ants? Really? Never heard of that.
Luckily we have frozen, a few times. And down in the single digits this week too, so no ticks for now.

They control not only ticks but also fleas and chiggers. Unfortunately they are a danger to ground nesting birds and one reason the Atwater's Prairie Chicken is facing extinction.
