DefaultSend a Valentine to a Chained Dog

I just came across this on the HSUS Web site, and I think it is SUCH a wonderful idea:

    http://www.hsus.org/pets/pets_relate...gs_010709.html

There is a group called "Dogs Deserve Better" who reach out to the owners of chained dogs across America on Valentine's Day, encouraging them to bring their dogs inside. They ask for help either by having your children (or class, if you are a teacher) make Valentines for the dogs. They also need help identifying people who have chained dogs, and ask for you to (anonymously) submit addresses.

I will be supporting this effort in both ways. Seeing a chained dog crushes me. :'( I thought many of you might want to participate too, with your children. All you scrapbookers would be really good at this too. What a great way to create awareness.

The deadline to submit Valentines is February 5th, so get busy crafting!

I know the people that help run this. You should read about the lady that almost went to jail for rescuing a dying German Shepherd that was chained in someone's yard. It's amazing. Her name is Tammy Grimes. You could probably google it. This is a great group to support.

I saw that story when I was wandering around their site. :'( God bless her.

I think it is a wonderful idea. If another group was sponsoring it.
    But.
Anything with HSUS on it doesn't get my support. Or $$$$.
“If I know every single phone call you’ve made, I’m able to determine every single person you’ve talked to; I can get a pattern about your life that is very, very intrusive. And the real question here, is what do they do with this information that they collect – that does not have anything to do with al-Qaeda? And we’re gonna trust the president and the vice president that they’re doing the right thing? Don’t count me in on that.”

Well, if it helps at all, it's not HSUS that's sponsoring it. They just talk about it on their Web site. The group that's doing it is Dogs Deserve Better.
