DefaultNewbe, needs help finding a breeder!

Hi I am new here and just found this board on chance. I have been researching breeders for English labs. I live upstate NY (Sullivan county) and would like to find a reputable breeder in the area or PA area. But no luck . I have no intention to show, compete or breed. I just have a soft spot for this particular breed, would be a family companion for my two kids, hubby and I.
I don't have to have a puppy this minute, just finding that reputable breeder would be great. Also, what should I look for in a breeder, the yes and no No's to make sure he/she is a good breeder not a mill saying "I'm a breeder".

    Thanks, all advice is welcome

Okay, I found two breeders that I'm interested in . Well, one is out in PA and seems to have a lot of info on the website. Just not sure what to look for. Another has 1 1/2 yr old for sale and is closer to me, they breed their females only once a yr. Still I have no clue what to look for in a breeder. My husband and I have a passion for labs and would like sum advice.

I have several articles about breeders on my blog. Here's some of the most relevant ones:

    http://www.labradortraining.riaancor...brador-breeder
    http://www.labradortraining.riaancor...-the-newspaper
    http://www.labradortraining.riaancor...d-from-the-bad
    http://www.labradortraining.riaancor...riever-breeder

Also, if you're only looking for a pet with a nice temperament, it might be a good idea to look at the Lab rescue organisations. There's already so many wonderful labs that doesn't have a home.

I don't know if they have anything now, but there is a Lab breeder in Saugerties. http://www.glenerielabradors.com/ BTW- what part of Sullivan County are you in? I grew up in Ulster Co.

edited to add- here's another breeder up that way. This one is in Marlboro. http://hudsonriverlabradors.com/Home.html
